tater
Just an FYI, Belichek will not be starting DB's Ty Law and Otis Smith...He's starting the two rookies they drafted, Eugene Wilson and Asante Samuel. These two have looked decent in practice but this will be there first time in real game mode. Again, just adding any info I can to help out. Good Luck with whatever side you take
A few points
1. It's done nothing but rain around here for the last several weeks - and more is expected up to the weekend. I don't know how wet the field will be, but all of this wet should make it harder for the defense to react to the offense
2. Two rookie cornerbacks will be starting on defense for the Pats and will probably play the lions share of the game. Also, the Pats will be instituting a new 3-4 defense, so confusion will occur in the defense as the new formation is learned
3. Fassel has stated that the offense will be airing the ball a lot in this game.
4. The Pats offense has to test the new running backs and wideouts - so expect a mixed offensive game from them. The offensive line looks to remain static.
here is the qb rotation then will have to get be with you guys when I get back

Heard on the radio today in an interview with the Giants radio broadcaster: he says the right side of the offensive line was decimated in the off season and is a big ?. They'll be rotating people in and out all night, trying to find someone who can fill the slots. Against a starting line-up this might be devastating, but for the first preseason game it might fly! It stopped raining this PM, and the sun came out, but the weatherman says:
THURSDAY
MOSTLY CLOUDY. A CHANCE OF SHOWERS IN THE MORNING...THEN
A CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. HIGHS IN THE LOWER 80S.
LIGHT SOUTHWEST WINDS INCREASING LATE IN THE AFTERNOON TO 10 MPH.
CHANCE OF RAIN 30 PERCENT.
THURSDAY NIGHT
MOSTLY CLOUDY. A CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS EARLY IN THE EVENING...THEN A CHANCE OF SHOWERS. LOWS
IN THE LOWER 70S. SOUTH WINDS 10 MPH BECOMING EAST TOWARD DAYBREAK
AND DECREASING TO 5 MPH. CHANCE OF RAIN 50 PERCENT.
- Ty Law and Otis Smith will not start - and I assume this means that they won't be playing at all. 2 Rookie corners will be matching up against the top guns on the Giants, and they will probably play for most of the game because they only have one other corner with a chance of making the team (leonard myers).
- 3 of the 5 "regular" O linemen will likely not be playing due to injury. Andruzzi, Kenyatta Jones, and most recently Mike Compton (helped off the field by trainers on Monday afternoon practice and didn't get back out on the field.) - though I haven't heard an update on this since.
- Kevin Faulk seems to have been taking most of his reps in practice with the 1st team over Antoine Smith. He has had the chance to win the 2st spot before and always lost it to bigger stronger backs - though last year he kicked it into gear and may be ready to make a serious run at this thing. Having said that - He isnt that big and has a tendency to think he's barry sanders - which sometimes leaves him vulnerable to an occaisional wreck... He is quick but not that quick. If he uses his head he wont get it taken off, but if he isnt careful... Also of note at running back JR Redmond, Antoine Womack, and Mike Cloud have all not been practicing. That could be very bad because Antoine Smith (who wimpered into camp failing his first physical and has been practicing very gingerly) doesnt seem to be on the ball this year so far, and the only other back-up is Frank Moreau - whoever the hell that is. BUT this could be very good in another sense - in that if Faulk and Smith split time for the whole first half that will be rough on the Giants 2nd quarter 2nd team (Fassel said that the 1st team would play in the 1st Q, 2nd team in the 2nd Q, and the rest in the second half). Also Patrick Pass (listed as the backup fullback) has filled in from time to time at tailback quite well when he had to.
- All this doesn't bode well for the pats but there are some good signs too: Brady has been in the zone so far in camp and seems to be in sync with Fauria, which will be great to get some of the pressure off of Troy Brown. Huard for some reason hasn't done much but Johan Davey looks like he's ready to tear it up and will probably play most of the game at qb. Also on D Rodney Harrison has had a chip on his shoulder and so has Rosevelt Colvin. These two guys are serial killers and I pity the fool who has to match up against them especailly in preseason play - someone is gonna get hurt the way these guys play - and its refreshing to see.
